“To be alive is to look up at the stars on a dark night and to feel the beyond-words awe of space in its vastness. To be alive is to look down from a mountaintop on a bright, clear day and to feel the wonder that can only be expressed in ‘oh’ or ‘wow’ or maybe ‘hallelujah.’ To be alive is to look out from the beach toward the horizon at sunrise or sunset and to savor the joy….” (p. 5 in Brian McLaren’s We Make the Road by Walking: A Year-Long Quest for Spiritual Formation, Re-orientation, and Activation)
Welcome to Peaceful Families, Peaceful World! I’m glad you’re here. I look forward to journeying with you as I explore what it means to live in peace – in peace with our global and local neighbors, in peace with all creatures, in peace with co-workers and classmates, in peace with relatives and strangers, in peace with foe and friend, in peace with who we are and who we seek to be as beings who are fully alive and open to the opportunities of each moment.
Each week I hope to post a blog entry with questions that invite us to wonder. I also hope to post at least one entry with an idea about how we might be more mindful, enjoy life more fully, find hope in the challenges and struggles, and live as blessings – to be peace.
